The project was approved in 1885 and was produced in one of the most emblematic foundries in Paris, the Val d'Osne Foundry. It reflects the context of the fountain d'art, which combined art with industry, and in addition, performed technical functions, integrated into the 1st household water supply system, from the 19th century: it connected the pipes of the Santo Isidro Reservoir and Reservoir of São João da Foz (da Pasteleira), and was a point of oxygenation, pressure control and management of water conduction.
