  • Fonte do Ribeirinho ou dos Ablativos
  • description
  • It was built on the initiative of José Roberto Vidal da Gama, vice-president of the Porto Relation, with the aim of taking advantage of the waters of a stream that began on Rua de Cedofeita and flowed into the Douro River, which due to its small size was known as riverside. The Latin inscription on its back with 24 ablatives also names the source as the Ablatives. Its construction was part of the urbanization programs that followed the first president of the Board of Public Works, João de Almada e Melo (1757-1786), reflecting in its architecture characteristics of the “new fountains”, back fountains with a classically inspired language.
