- It was known as the Rua do Freixo Fountain and its construction was the result of a petition from residents of the area in 1860 and the fountain project was approved by the City Council in 1861. It was built by the locals with a contribution of 300 thousand municipal kings. It was fed by its own spring with a mine a few kilometers away from the source.
