- title
- Bebedouro Sociedade Protetora dos Animais
- description
- It was created by the Sociedade Protetora dos Animais (Animal Protection Society) to ensure the supply of water to small and large animals. Manufactured in 1889, it comes from the city of Lisbon, removed along with another specimen, from among 14, that of Xabregas and that of Campo de Ourique, due to the inability to guarantee its regular supply. They were donated by the President of the Sociedade Protetora dos Animais (Animal Protection Society), Júlio de Andrade, in 1903, and placed in Praça Carlos Alberto and Praça da Batalha. The model was inspired by 19th-century Parisian street furniture designs.
